YMCA at Virginia Tech Programs

The YMCA at Virginia Tech has a rich history and an incredible future. During the past 132 years, the Y has served the New River Valley with diverse programs to enhance the quality of life in our area. Join us for some of our great community programs, including:

Y Community Classes — a continuing education program that offers a wide variety of classes from pottery to salsa dancing, learning Spanish and Turkish to outdoor grilling. Click here to view classes and register online.

Y Pottery Studio — A place to explore ceramics, wheel throwing, hand building and youth classes.

Community Gardens — from flowers to veggies, the Community Gardens provide a place for the community to garden together in raised beds, the Roper Solar Greenhouse, perennial gardens, and even community plots.

Thrift Shop — located in Blacksburg, our thrift store provides a high-quality, low-cost shopping alternative as well as a wonderful way to relieve the landfill burden by recycling usable goods.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes – These classes are free of charge and some provide free childcare.

International Programs — a non-denominational gathering for international women to learn more about Blacksburg, make friends, and practice English in an informal setting. Free childcare is provided.

Y Student Programs — providing volunteer and leadership opportunities for VT students since 1873. Join one of our many community service programs and volunteer with kids, special needs individuals, and lower-income families and/or seniors. Whether you are looking for a one-time volunteer opportunity for your group or a long-term commitment as an individual, the YMCA at VT works with you to find the right fit for you and your schedule.
