CINDERELLA AND PRINCE CHARMING BOUTIQUE
An annual event, co-sponsored by the Blacksburg Junior Women's Club, to outfit teens with prom attire on a budget. Weekend shop dates are held in March and April. Donations of formal attire, both dresses and tuxedos, are collected at the Y Center all year in anticipation of this event.
CONTRA DANCE AT THE Y
Contra Dance is a traditional American dance in which couples dance in two long facing lines or in groups of four. No partner required!
Lesson starts at 7pm, Dance starts at 7:30pm. $12 each ($10 students).
HEALTHY KIDS DAY ®
In partnership with the Y-USA’s annual Healthy Kids Day®, the Y's national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids, the YMCA at Virginia Tech hosts an annual Healthy Kids Day®. This free “summer kick-off” event is comprised of music, games, healthy snacks, crafts, and educational activities for families. The day features activities hosted by different Virginia Tech groups as well as booths run by various local organizations; many of which promote their child-friendly summer programs. This is the YMCA's own day of play designed to get kids excited for the summertime and the opportunities that await them.
Y COMMUNITY GALLERY
We are proud to announce that the YMCA at Virginia Tech is opening a brand-new community art gallery in The Y Center at 1000 N. Main St., Blacksburg. Y BOOK FAIR
Among the many volumes of books that will be available in our annual Book Fair there will be a collection of books of local origin, authors and interest. We'll have literally thousands of books, comics, graphic novels, vinyl and vintage collectibles for you to peruse at the very best prices around so get ready!!
Y ARTISAN FAIR
The Y Artisan Fair will is a much loved Blacksburg tradition more than 55 years in the making. Featuring local, regional and national juried artisans offering beautiful merchandise ranging from silver-smited jewelry to hand carved wood and stone pieces; exquisitly hand sewn quilts to dolls dresses and toys. All handmade with love ready for you to take home!
