Prom is a special time in life. Everyone deserves the opportunity to attend if they wish yet it is also a very expensive event. It is especially so when one considers the cost of purchasing clothing, accessories and grooming.
“Since its inception, the prom dress program at the YMCA at Virginia Tech, which we’ve most recently called the Cinderella and Prince Charming Boutique Event or Cinderella Project (among other names), has had as it’s center purpose the assisting of any student who would like to attend their prom or other formal event. The recent addition of the Blacksburg Junior Women’s Club has been the missing piece that will make this program what it has been envisioned to be all along. In this partnership I see the completion of the machine that will fill a need in our region. It makes all of our historical time and effort worthwhile. It is so exciting to see the joy on the young faces as they find the perfect outfit.” Ron Ovelgoenner, YMCA Director of Thrift Shop Operations
We accept donations of gently used formal wear and accessories for the project all year round and ask that you please have the items dry cleaned before dropping off.
All High Schoolers on a budget are invited to attend.
